With warmer weather in full swing, it's the perfect time to enjoy a refreshing stroll in the great outdoors by visiting your local farmer's market or making a run to the nearby produce stand.

There's simply nothing like treats made with the beautiful foods that's availiable during this time of the year! (And as an added bonus, buying produce that's in season is much easier on your budget too.)

Now perhaps you think that making healthy food from scratch is just too difficult, and cooking feels like a mystery to you. Maybe you have 4 children like we do and you believe you just don't have the time.

But if you've been around here long, you know that if it's gotta be pretty simple, really enjoyable, and delicious if it's going to get our stamp of approval. When you try this “recipe” I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by how simple getting a healthy snack on the table really can and should be.

I promise, if I can do this, you can too, and you'll be so glad you did!

The Recipe

1. Grab a couple of ORGANIC TOMATOES, wash, and chop them to the size that you prefer for salsa.

2. Toss them into a bowl with some finely diced Vidalia or other mild ONION of choice.

3. Add a finely chopped JALAPENO (seeds removed), 1 clove minced GARLIC, HIMILAYAN PINK SALT, and FRESH BLACK PEPPER to taste.

4. Next add a splash of your favorite VINEGAR (we love balsamic), LEMON, OR fresh LIME juice for a bit of tangy flavor.

Optional: You may also add some finely chopped fresh CILANTRO if you enjoy the flavor. Most in our family like it and it does add some very nice nutritional benefits. Stir in some diced avocado or organic corn for some additional FLA-VUH!

And all that's left to do is stir all the ingredients together and enjoy!
(If you prefer a less chunky salsa, you may pulse/blend the ingredients quickly in your food processor.)

You've just experienced one of our very favorite things…Food Formulas!  This is the go-to strategy for being able to whip up something fantastic in the kitchen when you don't have time for a recipe. The beauty is that these formulas work even if cooking feels like Latin to you.
